Second Floor Studio opens its doors at Shahpur Jat, New Delhi. Punit Jasuja and his team were in full swing organising the event. Second Floor Studio ties up with Damson, a European catering company run by British Chefs. Punit Jasuja’s flair for designing and styling is larger than life. The balance between fusion and kitchsy is hard to find. Kudos to Punit for achieving it beautifully. Fabulous large white floral installations adorn the walls. The miniatures paintings on different objects is interesting. The Bollywood plates, the cushions, linen etc.. Amitabh Bachchan cut outs from his Amar Akbar Anthony days (What a movie?!) The cutlery casted as human bodies was quirky cool. Not sure if I would get down to buying them, nevertheless love the idea. Studio Printworks Wallpaper from NYC have their collection available here. Dennis Shah, the designer, creates some quirky unusual patterns. Using pineapples, bumble bees and skulls. Back when I was at Artisan, he met with me. I liked the patterns alot. But since we catered to a mass market I sadly had to give them a miss. Though he has found the perfect home for his designs in Second Floor Studio. Nice style tips to pick up in his table arrangement. Setting a table for entertaining is harder than it looks. The table linen is styled with a mix between print and plain. Flowers are the most important on any table. It brings alive your meal. Easiest is to place long stemmed flowers and keep them loose in a tall vase. Tall vases for large tables and not in a spot where the guest cant see each other. You can also try short stubby vases with a solid line of roses cut short and at the same height. The food presentation looks amazing. Beetroot soup in small shot glasses. Never thought I would say “Yay! Beetroot Soup!” Love the fig and pomegranate desert. So swing by the store if your in Delhi to enjoy a creative journey.
