What does a man like Hamza Ali Mazari, played by Ranveer Singh, come home to? Not excess, not noise—but Ananda. In Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, the 20,000-square-foot mansion becomes a deliberate counterpoint to the character’s chaos, its spatial choreography revealing as much about him as any line of dialogue he delivers.
Award-winning Indian filmmaker Aditya Dhar chose this lavish mansion in Amritsar, designed by two design wizards, Shiv Dada and Mohit Chawla of 23DC Architects, as a major shooting location. It’s here where all the action-packed drama unfolds. These include the lavish party Hamza throws at the two-level backyard, where a high-stakes confrontation took place. The instance when his wife, Yelina, played by Sara Arjun, points a gun at him, and even their last scene together in the sunken seating area with a bonfire, surrounded by water and foliage, almost feels transportive. It was all shot here in this quintessential setting, where natural light and material honestly meet each space in a thoughtful rhythm. What’s fascinating is how a home designed for stillness can hold so much intensity.

“It was a surreal feeling to see a space we designed with so much thought and emotion come alive on screen in such a powerful way,” Shiv Dada, principal architect of 23DC, exclaims. The architect brought the very eminent Interior Stylist Saniya Tadha on board early in the process, entrusting her with the curation of the project. She approached the space with precision, thoughtfully composing shelves, orchestrating object placements, and introducing subtle layers without overwhelming the structure. It was all executed within an intense two-day timeline. Watching the home she styled 2 years ago play out on screen, Tadha says, “I felt incredibly proud and excited seeing my styled project transform into a film set. It was surreal to watch the space I styled come alive with cameras, lights, and an entire creative team bringing it to life. Moments like this truly remind me why I love what I do.”

Ananda’s free-flowing floor plan and C-shape design ensure that every corridor stretches, every shadow deepens, every frame tightens around Ranveer Singh’s presence. The essence of Ananda’s ethereal mystique begins right from its entrance with four Buddha statues that stand as sentinels to ward off negative energies. Upon entering the house, you’re greeted with a double-height space that overlooks the central courtyard and a grand reclining Buddha — an iconographic representation of Buddha’s final meditation posture. The sunken seating area surrounded by soothing water and lush plantation is reminiscent of a Vietnamese rainforest. The key emotional sequence between Ranveer Singh and Sara Arjun has been filmed right here. Mohit Chawla, the Principal Architect, eagerly says, “Watching our project become a film set was truly special. It felt rewarding to see architecture designed for real life also carry such a strong cinematic presence.”

Designed with dexterity, the home’s interiors have equal parts excitement and relaxation. The restrained colour palette finds companionship in nuanced stone shades, ivory walls, wooden louvres, and plush upholstery, ensuring that it doesn’t overshadow the surrounding green landscape. Sophisticated furniture choices paired with eclectic artworks and decor accents lull you into relaxation. “This is where design goes beyond aesthetics. It becomes narrative. It becomes a mood. It becomes a memory,” says Tadha.

Other architectural highlights include black marble staircases, minimalist yet spacious bedrooms, a pool-facing living area, and the two-level backyard that elevated the film’s cinematic presence and made it an integral part of the film’s storytelling. Ananda has been designed with a smooth indoor-outdoor transition and is equipped with sheer curiosity. Sunlight bathes the entire home with its gentle glow courtesy of the expansive windows and sliding doors, reducing the need for artificial climate control and lighting. In Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, this fluidity translates into scenes that feel continuous, immersive, and spatially rich.
