More we say about Rajiv Saini’s work the less we think the words do justice. Clean, Luxurious and Warm resonates from every project. One of his latest projects will require us to do a 2 piece article to give you an adequate view of the home. A 6,000 sq ft suburban house with a magnificent sea view, surrounded by a terrace on all sides.

Designed to suit the lifestyle of a young couple. When you enter you have a geometric screen shielding the view into the seating area. Custom made with Stainless Steel. The passage is finished with venetian plaster. Since the couple have people constantly dropping in for short meetings. An informal meeting space was designed. The iconic Edra sofa flanked with shell chairs by Carl Hansen. We love the spider Serge Mouille ceiling lamps. They shape compliments the chairs. The living room opens out into the adjacent room. Large white sofas, Quadro by Poltrona Frau form the main seating. The white strikes a balance against the warm wood flooring.  What is interesting about the space, Rajiv tells us, “generally hard wood flooring is used in the bedrooms to add warmth. But here we have done things differently. The wooden flooring is used in the public spaces and the marble in the bedrooms.” Pistachio green Archibald Chairs for additional seating. The abstract rug is turkish rug that was found in Italy. Since the couple entertain a lot, the bar was woven in seamlessly. Behind the black glass is the bar connecting the kitchen. Accessibility to utilities and restricting the staff in one area. The couples love for music and movies gave way to a cozy den and theatre space.

From the living room you walk into the den. It is screened off with a brown goldenish screen woven out of horse hair. Yes, horse hair, not a typo error, it is widely used as upholstery. Rajiv has used a very interesting console in blue and green, Wrongwoods by Richard Woods and Sebastian Wrong for Established and Co. The louvered shutters hide all the equipment also allowing them to breathe. The dining room has a large 10 seater table. A small view of the skyline is visible in this picture. A challenge Rajiv faced in the conceptual phase was the number of beams dropping at varying heights throughout the space. In the dining room the problem posed itself. With nearly a 3 feet drop. Brilliantly Rajiv has converted this into a console. Intergrating it beautifully. White corian has been used to keep the counter always sparkling. A bespoke Venini Chandelier hangs perfectly above the table. In totality the zoning of the place has worked out very well. Each space flows into the other very easily. Making the space perfect for entertaining as well as a private space.
