This month saw the return of the legendary Frieze Art Fair – New York Edition. The sixth installment of the contemporary art extravaganza brought more than 200 galleries from 30 countries to Randall’s Island Park in the first week of May. As always, Design Pataki was there front and centre to bring you a lowdown on one of the world’s most interesting endeavours in Modern Art. This multicultural event sees names from International design houses and for this year’s exhibit four Indian design houses were selected to participate. Familiar faces like Jhaveri Contemporary, Nature Morte, Project 88 – all of whom appeared at the 2016 edition – as well as a newcomer, Kolkata-based art house, Experimenter.

Walking through the exhibits is awe-inspiring and the whirlwind of designs from across the world can be an assault on your senses, but that has always been the most enigmatic angle of the event. Since the first Frieze Fair in 2003, it has been the meeting point for the freshest, most exploratory art from galleries in every country. From whimsical to breathtaking, there’s a little bit of everything and it’s not hard to see why this has become the ultimate destination for art collectors, not only to buy but to discover and debate. The air itself is heavy with art and the longer you look, the more magic there is to found because this is no ordinary gallery, this is art you live your life by.
