Qaaleen’s unequivocal goal is to bridge the gap between Indian craftsmanship and modern design sensibilities; to fully tap into the creative potential of a humble weaver’s loom and create ranges of rugs as vast as one’s imagination can stretch! Every Qaaleen rug is made by hand in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh and serves as a meditation on the artistic journey of the weaver: reflecting his thought, and the richness of the history he brings to the loom. In an endeavor to preserve India’s craft traditions, Qaleen has been supporting more than a hundred families of the craftsmen they work with, by providing them with housing, education and various other infrastructural facilities.
