Black Rock City, previously known as Burning Man, returns to the Nevada desert from August 30 to September 7, 2026, transforming the playa into a temporary metropolis dedicated to art, participation, and radical community. This year’s theme, Axis Mundi, foregrounds ideas of interconnectedness—exploring the social realities we are collectively shaping and our enduring relationship with the natural world.

Conceived as a fully participatory environment rather than a conventional festival, Black Rock City brings together a global community united by the Ten Principles, a shared ethos rooted in creativity, self-reliance, and generosity. Participants arrive from across the world to co-create the city itself, contributing through art, infrastructure, performance, and volunteer-led initiatives that sustain the experience.
