Colomboscope is a contemporary arts festival and a creative platform for interdisciplinary dialogue that has grown steadily within the cultural landscape of Colombo since 2013. Curated by Anushka Rajendran with artistic director Natasha Ginwala, this 10-day festival works with a range of intergenerational artists, writers, musicians, filmmakers, social theorists and scientific researchers from Sri Lanka and internationally to deliver a focused programme with each festival edition held at key historic sites in Colombo. The festival is committed to building a sustainable and context-responsive environment for cultural producers to continue generating path-breaking, collaborative and genre-defying approaches in the field.

‘Language is Migrant’, the festival concept for the 2021 edition refers to a poem by Chilean artist and poet Cecilia Vicuña and ties in with the larger narrative of the festival bringing together intergenerational cultural practices from across Sri Lanka, South Asia and varied international contexts fostering global dialogue. Through a range of workshops with emerging arts professionals, performers and writers. Colomboscope organizes intimate and horizontal learning environments as part of developing cultural inquiry at a grassroots level. Additionally, Colomboscope gives centre stage to live events as part of the festival programme involving local and visiting musicians, producers, multi-instrumentalists and composers.
