Arpita Singh, Untitled, Carpet, 50 x 74 inches, 1990s

The Face of the Sun exhibit at Akara Art showcases 40 years of art by three distinguished contemporaries – Arpita Singh, Jagdish Swaminathan and Manjit Bawa. While they may have different creative approaches, the featured works of these artists are tied together by subtle themes of folk art and mythology. Notable pieces among these include an oil painting by Arpita Singh titled ‘Sea Shore’, a jewelled gold broach resembling Hanuman by Manjit Bawa and ‘Geometry of Colour’ – a painting by Jagdish Swaminathan.
