“Rishi I” by Stephen Cox

Commanding a bird’s eye view of the city of Jaipur, the historic Nahagarh fort currently houses around 55 spectacular installations as part of the first edition of the Sculpture Park – a collaboration between the Rajasthan government and the Saat Saath Arts Foundation. The park is situated in the Madhavendra Palace’s courtyard and rooms – structures of opulence and traditionalism which provide an interesting contrast to the contemporary art housed within. The park features the works of 24 national and international artists ranging from Subodh Gupta and Bharti Kher to Haim Steinbach and James Brown. According to the park’s curator Peter Nagy, the First Edition of the Sculpture Park showcases the “sweeping heterogeneity of sculpture practices today.”
