isdi with parsons is now in mumbai!

New York based Parsons, The New School for Design has now opened in Mumbai. In partnership with the Indian School of Design & Innovation (ISDI). Mumbai is the third location after Paris and Shanghai. This year’s India Design Forum & India Design 2013, were a massive success. Both events emphasises on the importance of design in not only a single field but as a way of life. Therefore Parsons opening Mumbai is also an important milestone in 2013 and showcases the growth and need of creativity in the country.
Offering an Undergraduate Diploma Program in fashion, interiors, product and communication design. A postgraduate program that will launch in September 2013. (Entrance test next week, July 25, 10:30 am)

With specialisations in Fashion Business Management, Creative Entrepreneurship and Digital Design, the post- grad courses at Parsons Mumbai seem extremely intensive. If you have an interest in design and innovation, you are eligible to apply. No formal educational or professional backing in the field is required.

While the academic year for the under graduate course has begun, those interested in the post graduate program can apply online via their website. The application will be followed by an entrance exam that will test design aptitude, interpersonal skills and will involve a studio challenge as well.

The schools success will be determined by the faculty, curriculum, internships and an international design experience. We have had other international institutes been set up in Mumbai. None of which been able to establish themselves as serious institutions of design.
Summer programs should be introduced by Parsons Mumbai soon. This will help potential students to try out different fields and make an informed decision on the expertise they want to pursue.
