Introducing our new section, Events
Your low down on the fairs and events around the world and ofcourse India! The Maison and Objet
just got over in Paris. We are rounding up what inspired us and got our design bone tickling:
Maison & Objet’s designer of the year 2012 are Humberto and Fernando Campana amongst Hubert le Gall of France and Tokujin Yoshloka of Japan. Each designer was given the opportunity to create an installation space. We liked Humberto and Fernandos’ eco friendly thinking with their innovative use of cardboard.
Well known furniture and lighting designer Tom Dixon
has launched a new line, Eclectic
. Made out copper, marble, cast iron and wood. This is his first home accessory line since he started designing furntiure and lighting. Each piece is inspired by British heritage. We love the copper shoe which is used as a door stopper.
has introduced the Farming Net collection, which uses heat-forming agricultural nets as thin sculptural material. These nets were originally used as protective covering for fruits and vegetables. Such texture — stronger than an organdy weave, yet more flexible than wire mesh — is reminiscent of furoshiki Japanese wrapping cloth, as well as Japanese hand- made paper. Products in Nendo’s
collection include lamps, flower vases and bowls.
Stay tuned for Part II on the fair next Wednesday, 26th Sept !
