Actor Brad Pitt has decided to putting his sketching skills and his love for furniture together. He has created a 12 piece furniture line in collaboration with ace furniture maker Frank Pollaro. Brad Pitt says he discovered Architects Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Frank Lloyd Wright in college and it changed his life.

If you notice, his pieces have a continuous line running through. Inspired by Mackintosh’s Glasgow rose which is drawn with one continuous line.
The piece which I liked the most is the dining table above. I love the way the wire looking wood frame bends under the weight of the table top. It actually feels like it is struggling to hold the weight up. Very well constructed and put together.

Stone Bath Tub

The stone bath tub above and the bed below are my least favourite. The marble is beautiful. But not so sure about the shape. The thin frame of the bed doesn’t give me the confidence that I can jump on it. Neither am I big fan of the oval side tables. Something I would imagine on an airline. What do you think?

The chair is rather interesting. You can easily roll up to read a book and be mighty comfortable. Would go perfectly in the den to soon become your sweet spot. The shelving system below looks a bit Piet Mondrian inspired. But what is nice is how it connects together.

The furniture was shown in New York Nov. 13-15. While prices aren’t public, expect them to be steep. Pollaro told Architectural Digest they would be “typically at the highest end of the custom-furnishings scale, and these will be up there, even north of that.”
The good news? If things go into larger-scale production with different materials, the price could drop. Each piece is individually signed and numbered by Pitt & Pollaro but I see a Made in China stamped coming up very soon.
