The Purple Turtles, Bangalore, provide customised lighting and furniture solutions. Showcasing a lovely range by Indian Lighting Designers along with in-house designers. Their new Furniture Collection, Elephant Series and Banana Fibre lights got our design bone kicking. What we like about the style is the break from the usual posh and luxe to the rustic vintage. The furniture made out of sleeper wood and cast iron for the base. Also using teak in some furniture. The Bar stool with the pedals are very unique. Burn the calories as you drink! We like the Portuguese influence on the storage cabinets. We wondered if these were up cycled furniture, but told they were made brand new. They do have a collection of lights that are antiques found from an old ship. A pirates plunder maybe. The furniture starts at Rs 6,000 and goes up to Rs 40,000.

The Elephant Series designed by Prajakta and Sapna have them exploring the majestic Elephant. Their sculptural interpretation of the form into an object. Hand beaten metal contrasting the smooth wood. Balancing the traditional and the contemporary, the raw and the refined. Creating a juxtaposition of sorts. They have a coffee table, side tables and matching lamps. The lamps atop the side tables look adorable. A complete family.
The Banan Fibre Collection made from extracts of the banana tree, jute and other natural fibers. Fusing the raw material with copper, wood and stone. Ensuring the fibre is treated with resin for protection. Aiming to make you feel a little bit closer to nature. These lights can be customised. The banana fibre lights start at Rs 900 a piece.
