The Raj Company has over a thousand pieces of handmade antique and colonial furniture stocked in their showroom in Mumbai. It was overwhelming for us to see floors and rooms full of antique furniture. What was a ice cream factory has been turned into an expansive showrooms. We would have needed Google maps if we didn’t have Rohaan Lamba, showing us around. If the original antique piece is too expensive for you, the Raj Company also does reproductions. They aren’t just reproductions, they like to call it ‘antiques of tomorrow’ because of the flawless craftsmanship that goes into it. Ricky Lamba, the owner, tells us that, “lots of designers are reinventing antique furniture. The inspiration stems from the basic designs but they play with the aesthetics.”

Dont let the colonial tag fool you. The Raj Company also makes customised furniture. Working directly with International and Indian designers. They ideate with the designer and can create anything, as wild as it is,that the designer has in mind. Ricky Lamba says, “No job is too big or too small, too simple or too complicated for us.”
Dont restrict yourself to only using antique furniture in that faraway farmhouse. Use interesting pieces like the ones we have chosen below in tangent with modern furniture. Something which brings the piece out of the old and into the new. Ideas to try are changing the paint colour, different polishes, tints and choices in fabrics. The Ooty Recliner Chair looks so comfortable. Perfect for that spot near the window. The handwoven cane at the back of the chair can be polished in metallic tones. Provided your space has metallics being used.
So get that special piece with The Raj Company as they understand the collaborative nature behind the interior design process.
