An increasing number of young travellers are finding ways to maximise their travel opportunities– even when it comes to work. By extending the tail end of their work trips for mini-vacations, these groups of travellers can make the best of their long (or short) haul trips giving rise to a new category of travel– bleisure. Bringing together the practicality and minimalism of a business trip with the fun elements of a leisure trip, this variant of travellers are often millennials who understand the motto that life is too short to constantly try and balance work and life by oscillating between both while constantly feeling exhausted. Instead, they can find moments of relaxation and soft luxury amidst all the grind.

Bleisure travel is a trend that is slowly making its way to India with Moxy championing it with gusto. A lifestyle brand that falls under the umbrella of Marriott properties, the first Moxy opened in 2014 in partnership with Ikea in Milan just a few kilometres away from the Malpensa Airport— much like the one in Bangalore that opened at the tail end of 2023. The Bangalore outpost is currently helmed by pre-opening captain Anuradha Venkatchalam who embodies the brand in every sense. From easy check-ins to functional suites, this Moxy has you covered.

Getting There

Designed keeping in mind frequent flyers and business travellers, Moxy Bengaluru is located 10 minutes away from Kempegowda International Airport. One of the perks of booking a room with Moxy is that they offer complimentary transfers with your booking which makes getting here and back in time to catch your flight hassle-free. If you were planning on a staycation from your city home in Bengaluru, then it’s a 40-90 minute drive depending on traffic and how far away from the airport you live.

Concept & Design

Breaking away from the conventions of 5 and 7-star properties that create a distinguished divide between service and customers, Moxy Bengaluru at Prestige Tech Cloud is here to bend the rules. With an ambition to be the first of its kind, its ethos and design are geared towards offering a stylish and fun experience. As soon as visitors enter the hotel, there is a change in tone when guests are greeted by Bar Moxy rather than the traditional check-in desk and lobby. Along with their key guests are given a welcome drink– a sign to get this party started. The entire lobby has been split into 4 zones– ‘Arrival Zone’ (drinks and check-in), ‘Social Zone’ (board games and a pool table), ‘BnF Zone’ (also known as Beverage & Food emanating relaxed cafe vibes), ‘Quiet Zone’ (couches and tables for remote workers) and the 5th is on the outside– ‘Layover’ (with a pool and DJ booth). The 25-metre outdoor pool is lined with pink umbrellas and set against a mural of MG Road from a bygone era in Bengaluru by a local artist. Currently surrounded by trees, this outdoor area is a feature that is unique to this property considering its location.

Villas, Suites, and Dining

Designed for both long-stay and short-term guests, Moxy Bengaluru has 128 rooms (including six suites) that are chic, with flexible furniture and elements of industrial designs. Millennial pink is a running theme in the space. From the neon sign that welcomes guests, to the signature Moxy wallpapers in each suite, there are shades of pink everywhere. The suites blend functional meets contemporary, much like modern millennial homes with minimal furniture and maximal usage. For instance, each suite has a beanbag-esque cushion that can double as a bed or a comfy workstation. Closets are a thing of the past, many suites come with the signature peg board where guests can find everything from a foldable table to a luggage rack. The suites on the other hand are a mixed bag of features– some have a kitchenette, some an exercise bike and the rest a balcony that looks out onto the pool and surrounding views.

The dining menu is helmed by Chef Stanley Coelho who comes from a history of working in the kitchens of traditional 5-star properties and has designed a menu that is succinct, delicious, and easy to serve. Their motto of fun and stylish comes across in every element including their food menu. Their offerings are a fusion of global cuisines like Middle Eastern, Pan-Asian, and Continental in a modern format. The dishes are a fun twist on classic dishes using top-notch ingredients and plating. For instance, instead of traditional sushi rolls, we were salmon sushi wrapped in rice like an ice cream cone– easy to eat without the fuss. Their cocktail menu is a wonderful blend of classic cocktails with a Moxy twist. The Foxy Moxy for instance is a spicy, briny adaptation of the margarita.

Unwind And Relax

The entire lobby area has been designed to be repurposed and activated through various collaborations. Whether it’s a movie night, a relaxed drink with colleagues, a casual game of snooker or a pool party with a DJ in tow— there is something for every kind of traveller. In addition to these facilities, they also have meeting and event rooms that are ideal for conferences and large get-togethers. Adjacent to the pool is the ‘sky lawn’ area which can be set up with a bar counter should there be an event. The community area is also sensitive to the mood so as the sun sets, the music changes to reflect the changing energies of the space. In place of traditional elevator music or jazz frequently heard in hotel lobbies, Moxy keeps it lively and modern.
