One of the biggest musical hits of 2022, Naatu Naatu from SS Rajamouli’s RRR (Rise Roar Revolt) has just made international waves. The song has been awarded the Best Original Song—Motion Picture at the Golden Globes 2023. Here’s an unknown fact about the video, though – it was shot in Kyiv, Ukraine, in front of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s official residence, Mariinsky Palace!

According to Rajmouli, the authorities granted permission to shoot the video at the residence because the Ukrainian president was a television actor. In addition to Naatu Naatu, several other scenes of the movie were shot at locations in Kyiv. The song features both protagonists of the film played by Jr NTR and Ram Charan who dance together in a demonstration of dissent towards British officials. The film’s production designer is Sabu Cyril.

A hindi-dubbed version of RRR is available on Netflix India.
