Design Salon Mumbai’s Third Edition Returns For Another Unforgettable Weekend

Design Salon Mumbai’s Third Edition by Design Pataki, hosted by Esha Gupta, unfolds over a weekend with immersive showcases, dialogues, and little moments of repose.

Life has a way of coming full circle. So it is only natural that Design Pataki’s Design Salon comes back to Mumbai for a Third Edition. Curated and hosted by Esha Gupta, founder and Editor, Design Pataki India, it took place at the Four Seasons Mumbai over a weekend earlier this month. “We’re at the third edition of the Design Salon in Mumbai; it’s where the heart of Design Pataki truly lies,” shares Esha Gupta of Design Pataki. In collaboration with White Teak by Asian Paints and Specta Quartz Surfaces, it is a coming together of design and dialogue, paired with a dash of leisure.

 

 

Following the first Bengaluru edition earlier this year at The Leela Palace Bengaluru, the Salon returns to Mumbai, where Design Pataki first began its journey. It is here that Esha Gupta has built a thriving design community over the years, shaped by conversations, collaborations and a shared passion for design. The third edition brings together a compelling constellation of India’s design talent, spanning established studios, independent practitioners and emerging voices.

An Intimate Scale

From the moment designers step into the Mansion’s Great Room at Four Seasons, an unmistakable sense of curatorial vision takes hold. The thoughtfully curated booths become a meeting point for design and artistry to converge seamlessly. What defined the morning was its deliberate intimacy, where the guests could actually have an intimate conversation about a product or the brand’s practice.

Among the designers were some of India’s leading creative voices, from A&K Design Studio and Talati and Partners to Purple Backyard, Baldiwala Edge and others. The gathering reflects an evolving vocabulary of contemporary Indian design. “It’s all about the incredible designers, creativity and brands that make this weekend absolutely unforgettable,” notes Esha.

The Application Of Limewash 

In the afternoon, the Salon shifts to a hands-on workshop by Magocoats, inviting designers to explore the art and application of limewash. Designers experimented with various materials, textures and limewash techniques, exploring how layered applications and tonal variations can transform a surface. The workshop offered a closer look at how limewash can be altered to create depth, movement and character, transforming walls into expressive, textured surfaces.

A Glamorous Full House

As Mumbai dresses in lights, Design Salon hosts a glamorous soirée at the Modernist where the night unfolds through cocktails, conversation and irreverent humour. The evening soirée was a moment to an indulgent interlude with a warm welcome from Esha Gupta, animated exchanges, and crafted cocktails. Varun Thakur infuses the evening with some razor-sharp commentary, making the room laugh. As the night goes on, conversations drift effortlessly across the room, weaving together designers, architects and creatives in moments of humour, exchange and shared curiosity.

Subsequently, DJ Ambika, aka Disco Juice, took over the console, dissolving the Salon’s poised rhythm into something far more electric. As the music moved between euphoric beats, conversations gave way to celebration, and the room transformed into a spirited after-hours revelry.

The Curated Edit

From The White Teak x Beautiful Homes India and Specta Quartz Surfaces to Fima Carlo Frattini, INHOUZ, Ritikaa Wood, Collins x Snaidero, Vita Moderna, KLOZ Lighting, Office Ideas, Yantra Windows and Gulmohar Lane, the Salon brought together a vibrant mix of furniture, lighting, surfaces, cabinetry and architectural details. Apollo, the silver-drenched chaise from the Studio 54 collection by Esha Gupta x Yashesh Virkar, added a final note of disco-inspired glamour.

Beyond the showcases and curated installations, Design Salon ultimately reveals itself as something far more enduring, allowing the architects, designers and creatives to step away from the velocity of everyday practice.
