Soho House, the global members-only club for the creative community opens its first outpost in Bangkok, marking its foray into Southeast Asia. Situated in the Sukhumvit neighbourhood within the building of the erstwhile Eugenia Hotel, the club features interiors by Soho House Design that reflect Bangkok’s rich cultural heritage.

The design of Soho House Bangkok was largely influenced by the original building and its intimate feel. Despite being located in a former hotel, the House has no bedrooms and resembles colonial-style Thai residential houses from the mid-20th century. Its character embraces the nature of social life in Bangkok, with its interior and areas spaces merging, and the pool in the outdoor terrace as the focal point. “The pool is the heart of the House,” says Severine Lammoglia, Principal Designer at Soho House Design. “All of the spaces that we’ve designed kind of open up to it on the first floor.”

The interiors take inspiration from the regional craft traditions, ceramics and textures, such as bamboo finishes and basket weave. Hues of green, mustard, and deep orange inform the colour palette. Tiles from L-Thai, rugs from Royal Thai, and Jim Thompson Fabrics find their way into the interior. “Everything in the House is handmade, and it’s really special for us to have the opportunity to feature bespoke objects and finishes,” says Carla Murillo, the architect at Soho House Bangkok. “It allows us to really take the design to a new level, as nothing is prefabricated. It’s beautiful to see how the building has come together.”

Throughout the interior, one can find two special pieces of furniture designed specially for the space, which can also be purchased from Soho Home’s Bangkok Capsule Collection. The first is the Limited Edition Bangkok Lounge Chair upholstered in Pierre Frey’s blue Menerbes fabric, and the second is the Limited Edition Bangkok Table, a bistro table with a starburst marquetry top.

Soho House Bangkok launched in February 2023 and applications for new members are now open.
